Powdered herbs are just what they sound like – whole herbs ground up without any additives, binders or fillers. There is no cooking, just steep a few teaspoons in a vacuum thermos, strain and sip twice daily. It takes less than 5 minutes of active prep time per day.
Traditionally, whole herbs were boiled for 30-60 minutes and strained before drinking. While effective, this method is time-consuming, fills the house with a strong herbal aroma, requires large quantities of raw herbs (which can be costly), and has become less popular in recent decades.
Powdered herbal formulas were first introduced during the Han Dynasty (200 CE) and have been widely used since the Song Dynasty, over 1,000 years ago. Early herbalists discovered that grinding herbs into powder enhanced the extraction of active ingredients, allowing for effective clinical results with much smaller doses of herbal medicine.
Most of our herbs come from Spring Wind Herbs, a company that values sustainable growing, geo-authentication, proper post-harvest processing, and contaminant testing. We buy organic and premium-grade herbs whenever possible (more than 90% of the time).
The cost of a powdered herbal formula in our clinic is $25 per week, regardless of the formula. This is comparable or less than the patent formulas we carry. We still offer pills and tinctures if you prefer to take herbal medicine that way.

How to Prepare Your Powdered Herbs
Each bag of herbs will give you two days of medicine.
1. Add powdered herbs to a vacuum thermos.
2. Pour in 12 oz. of boiling water, close lid and let steep at least 4 hours (or overnight) in the thermos.
3. Strain.
4. Divide into two doses – for morning and evening. Avoid drinking the dregs in the bottom of the mug.
