Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. When life force energy is blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual distress. Reiki practitioners channel life force energy through their hands to promote healing and restore balance in the mind, body and spirit.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands on or above the energy centers of the body (chakras). It is common to feel warmth, cold, tingling or subtle pulsations coming from the practitioner’s hands. Some people have emotional releases during a treatment; others drift off to sleep. Afterwards, people generally feel a sense of peace and contentment, greater mental clarity, relief from pain and a more positive, balanced outlook.
Reiki is an excellent adjunctive therapy to medications, surgery, chemotherapy and psychotherapy. It is beneficial during times of transition, such as moving residence, changing jobs or ending a relationship or in cases of stubborn medical issues, or those stemming from mental or emotional imbalance.
